Malini Awasthi is an eminent folk singer of India. who has also gained expertise in singing songs in various local dialects of Hindi language like Bhojpuri, Awadhi and Bundelkhandi. And his expertise also extends to some semi-classical types of Hindi songs like Thumri and Kajri.

Malini was born in Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh. She also completed her post graduation in Hindustani Classical Music from Bhatkhande University, Lucknow. And she further honed her skills by learning from the eminent Indian classical singer Girija Devi whose fame for her thumri singing is also a legend. As a result, Malini now sings regularly at a major classical music festival popularly known as Jahan-e-Khusro.
